Three Educational Student Travel Destinations

You can tell your students about American history. You can have them see videos or, depending on where you live, take them to see some of the more obscure sites. But all the while, they will never see where the major decisions happened, the places that really shaped America and brought the United States into existence. Unless you are lucky enough to live near Boston, Philadelphia, or Washington D.C., the only way that your students can fully experience these historical cities is through student travel. Yet some teachers never even try to plan student trips to these locations because they fear cost. In this article, you'll learn that there are deals on student travel to all these popular cities, helping make your dream of giving your class a great experience into a reality.

Cheap Student Tours Around Boston

The earliest stories of colonial America and the American Revolution all come out of Boston. A proud city that preserves and honors its heritage, this is a great place to learn about the United States. This is also a great city to find deals on student travel, exactly because of its popularity. The trick is to find a reputable travel company that has worked in Boston for many years. When businesses have a long track record with the local tour companies and hotels, there are more discounts to be had overall. Cheap student travel comes naturally because the people on the ground in Boston know they can trust the company to bring more business. It's a natural incentive to offer lower rates, which a good travel company will then pass on to you.

Deals On Student Travel To Philadelphia

Philadelphia is a rich trove of historical sites. From the Liberty Bell to Constitution Hall, this city remembers that it hosted the first Continental Congress. Your students will love to see this former administrative capital of the colonies, where Congress sat before there was ever a well known George Washington to give his name to Washington D.C.

Philadelphia is another great city for cheap student travel. The companies that operate here are always looking to get you the best deals because they want your students to be able to visit and experience the richness their city has to offer. Tours given here also tend to be particularly flexible because there are so many different sites to see. Typically, however, you should look for the company first - almost without fail, the best companies will also turn out to be the ones offering the best deals trip packages.

Exploring Washington D.C. On A Budget

No American history or government education is complete without a visit to Washington D.C. As the heart of our nation's government, this city is rich with important buildings, filled with monuments to America's past leaders and museums that house some of the best collections in the world. No matter what your students are learning, there is something for you in D.C. - from art classes who seek out the National Gallery to science students visiting the Smithsonian, to history and government classes touring the monuments and visiting the Capital and White House, D.C. has something to teach every student. When planning a tour here, be particularly careful to find deals on student travel from a company that offers flexibility. There is just so much to do that you don't want to be constrained to a single, cookie cutter trip that the company refuses to change!

Flower Photography Spots in Thailand

If you are planning on a trip to Thailand and wanting to start marking your itinerary with some of the most amazing spots to capture the unique and mysterious flowers that Thailand has to offer then, be sure to place these places high on your list. The best places to take photographs of some of the worlds most vibrant and amazing flowers would have to include a trip to the Chiang Mai Flower Festival. Held in February each year this is a festival that gives thanks to nature for providing us with so many of her spoils.

The Chiang Mai flower festival is a brilliant place to get some of the most creative flower arrangement shots. Decorated floats and displays of orchids and traditional Thai flowers are everywhere. It is almost a fail proof way to ensure that your shot is full of vibrancy and happiness.

The Rose garden Riverside is a slightly more subdued opportunity to practise your photography prowess. At less than an hour from Bangkok, you have 70 acres of some of the most lush garden settings in the entire country. Whilst it is a luxury resort, there are a good mix of day trippers that come to marvel and escape in the amazing gardens and serenity. An interesting fact is that The Rose garden Riverside grows all the flowers and herbs that it then uses in all of the facial and spa treatments that they offer.

Heading to the northern provinces of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai will have you thankful that you made the trip. This is an area with the greatest abundance of botanical exploration in one single area. A mountainous region there are some unforgettable day trips that can be hiked through the mountain in search of the elusive parrot flower.

Regardless of the direction you take with your photography adventure, Thailand's rich mix of botanical gardens and beach side escapes can offer your photographs some magnificent presence to be shared for years to come.

Backpacking in Thailand - How to Travel Super Cheaply

A great way to get amazing results from your backpacking or traveling-for-low-cost budget is by booking a ticket to Thailand and preparing to explore to your heart's content - cheaply of course. Don't think it can be done? Wait until you've read this article and you'll be ready to book your ticket and go!

Now most budget travelers or backpackers would know this anyway - but in case you don't, the simple fact is that when it comes to low cost travel, Thailand takes the cake, and allows you to eat it too. (By the way, Thailand's neighbors are even cheaper to travel through than Thailand!) So let's find out how to do it.

Firstly understand that you can basically catch trains, buses and vans (boats too, depending on where you're headed) to almost anywhere in Thailand. Pretty much wherever there's a road, there's transport. You'll also have a few choices about what style you want to travel in... You can go local style and pay the local fares, or you can go VIP and pay top dollar (for Thai standards).

As an example, a VIP 24 seater bus with air conditioning (think of it like a fridge on wheels) will cost you the top end of your traveling budget, but give you a very comfortable trip (albeit a cold one). Whereas you can also find a local bus or van doing a similar route and pay less than half the VIP price. You still get to where you're going though!

So, to do Thailand on a really cheap budget is more than possible. The trick is to catch the local buses and vans, and do what the local Thai people do. I've seen folks sit in low-cost seats all night to ride 12 hour train trips, rather than fork out the extra for a bunk bed to sleep in.

Actually you'd be amazed at how cheaply you can travel Thailand for. For under US$10 you can do a picturesque 5 hour journey to a whole new part of Thailand. OK, so the bus might be full, and the driver a maniac, but you still get to where you're going, right? So, go book that ticket right away!

Bangkok Travel

Bangkok is a metropolitan city and is also the capital city of Thailand. It is one of Southeast Asia's most thriving commercial centers. More than anywhere else in the country, Bangkok tops the list in expressing the culture's uncanny ability to blend the old with the new. This lends a thrilling sense of discovery to one's sightseeing, which is favored by nature with a good climate and adds an element of surprise when exploring what is called the orient's most fabled city. Bangkok embraces modern development and presents an initial picture of thrusting office towers, world-class hotels offering deluxe comforts, towering shopping plazas, restaurants serving Thailand's acclaimed spicy specialties and virtually every other national cuisine, and importantly the neon-lit entertainment spots.

Bangkok houses busy airports coupled with excellent hospitality. Bangkok International Airport has a domestic as well as an international terminal. Bangkok hotels range from cozy suites to moderate rooms that cost a few bahts, the country's currency. Early bird reservations are possible at these hotels. A simple application online will suffice. Bangkok is known for having some of the best restaurants in the world. Almost every major cuisine in the world is available in specialty restaurants located throughout the city. Quality Thai and ethnic food is omnipresent in outlets and is also as diverse as street front restaurants and markets.

Bangkok is an excellent place to shop and is often called "the shopper's stop." The city is full of many shopping streets which are very unique on their own. The entire street usually sells only one kind of product ranging from fresh flowers, fabrics and clothes, gemstones, electrical goods, monk supplies, and guns. From the historical public ground to the sensational public park, Ratanakosin Island is one of Bangkok's highest ratios of parkland per capita. Aerobic dances are the area's major attraction. The city's other cultural attractions are the Siam society, national museum, national library and the Thai cultural center. This cultural center is considered as an avenue for musical and visual entertainment.

Travel in Bangkok is made even more interesting by the tuk-tuks and the ferry services. Private cars and vans operate in the city almost round the clock.

7 Reasons You Should Visit Thailand Once in Your Lifetime!

In this article I am going to give you seven reasons you should visit Thailand. It is a beautiful country and has a lot to offer. I have been there twice already and I have to say it was a life changing experience for me.

Ok so why should you go to Thailand and what does it have to offer?

1. The Beaches

My number one reason to visit would have to be the beautiful beaches. You are really spoilt for choice and it is really up to you which ones you go to. Some of the most beautiful ones that I have seen are on the island of Ko Pha Ngan, south of the mainland.

2. The People

You will find that the Thai people are very friendly and welcoming. Thailand is often called "The Land Of Smiles" and it really does live up to its name. If you visit Thailand you will be sure to make a lot of new friends.

3. The Atmosphere

Thailand has a unique atmosphere that is very laid back. You can take your time to enjoy the surroundings and take things at your own pace. This is another thing that makes Thailand so special.

4. The Food

Thai food is delicious and extremely healthy. You will find that you rarely will want to cook because the food is so affordable you can just eat out whenever you like. There is a wide range of seafood, noodles and rice dishes. You can eat at local markets, food stalls and restaurants. There are plenty of options for you to choose from!

5. The Temples

Thailand has some magnificent temples that you can visit during the day. Some of the most spectacular ones are in the capitol city of Bangkok but there are many others all around the country.

6. The Nightlife

If you like to party than Thailand could be the place for you. There is always something going on whether you are in Bangkok or staying on one of the islands. There are usually posters everywhere letting you know what is happening and when.

7. The Adventure

I saved the best until last. The most exciting thing about Thailand is that you never know what will happen next. It is one big adventure from the minute you arrive. I think this is what will keep me coming back again and again. You really have to experience it for yourself!

So here are my 7 reason why you definitely should visit Thailand at least once in your life. I know you will enjoy it as much as I did. If you do decide to visit "The Land Of Smiles" then it will surely be an unforgettable experience, which you will never forget.

Travelers Rate Bangkok As the #1 City in the World

Travel and Leisure, an American based magazine devoted to tourism, recently published their 13th annual travel poll. Bangkok, Thailand's cosmopolitan capital city, was voted by their readers as the top city destination in the world. In the poll of the world's best hotels,, India and luxury tented camp resorts in East and South Africa dominated the rankings. Keep in mind that Travel & Leisure's readership is mostly American - as travelers, they are not the budget, backpacker types and their choice in accommodations is geared towards deluxe and luxury resort hotels.

Why is Bangkok #1? I can understand why travelers from the west (farangs) would be attracted to the City of Angels. Bangkok has that magical allure - in many respects it is very westernized but at the same time it is so very exotic and foreign. Pluses are fantastic shopping opportunities, a variety of fascinating cultural attractions, a great selection of fine restaurants representing cuisines from around the world - Thai, Indian, Chinese, Italian, French, American, Japanese etc - and a most titillating nightlife. In addition, Bangkok has some of the finest luxury hotels in the world - not necessarily where I stay when I go to Bangkok, as I'm partial to more humble surroundings. For a large city, Bangkok is one of the safest in the world. On the downside, like most big cities, Bangkok has horrendous traffic jams and the air is very polluted. Bottom line, if you're a foodie and shopping is your thing, then you'll love Bangkok.

My personal take - I must admit that while I am not particularity fond of big cities, I find the City of Angels to be absolutely fascinating. Despite concessions to modernity and to the West, Bangkok carefully maintains the essence of Siam culture - the old ways and traditions remain as strong as ever. Notwithstanding numerous trips there, Bangkok continues to be a puzzle and mystery to me. Maybe that's the reason I keep returning - to solve the puzzle.

Using Thailand As Your Travel Hub in Southeast Asia

Sooner or later, you have to visit Southeast Asia if you enjoy seeing the world. There are simply too many unique landmarks and fascinating cultural aspect to not do so. When you go, you may find getting about a bit difficult, so focus on Thailand as your hub.

Asia is a fascinating area that has to be seen to be believed. From the spires of Angkor Wat to the lightening shows off the coast of Sihanoukville in Cambodia, there is something for everyone. To top the area off as a top destination, a currency problem in the late 1990s has resulted in Southeast Asia being a very cheap trip. Yes, even with the dollar being beaten up.

There is only one hang up when it comes to traveling in this area. Simply put, it is difficult to get from here to there. The quality, size and frequency of the transportation systems in the countries varies fairly dramatically. Consider the contrast between two countries sharing a long border - Thailand and Cambodia.

Thailand has its act together. There is plenty of bus, tram and train service in the bustling city of Bangkok. You can also take overnight trains from the city to most destinations in the country. If you have a few bucks to spare, you can usually fly from the city to larger destination in the country, such as Chang Mai, for $40 to $80. When you are ready to head to another country in the region, international flights out of Bangkok are also plentiful and cheap.

Cambodia is in sharp contrast to Thailand. For the most part, the use of the term "roads" is debatable. Things are rough. Much of the northern area of the country is very difficult to access. In fact, one of the more popular ways to get around the country when possible is by ferry. It is highly recommended that you use this mode of transportation when heading to Angkor Wat or your kidneys and back will be an absolute mess. Flying around Cambodia domestically is nearly impossible and international flights are infrequent and really expensive.

Lest you think I am unfairly criticizing Cambodia, it should be noted there is a distinct reason for the infrastructure problems in the country. The Khmer Rouge, of course. This group led by Pol Pot tried to revert the country to an agricultural society. Besides killing nearly a third of the population, the infrastructure took a beating.

This contrast may seem extreme, but it can be found in other countries. Laos is wonderful, but very rural. Indonesia is cheaper than even Cambodia and Thailand, but travel within the country can be physically tough. The contrast go on and on.

Should you travel to Southeast Asia, you are going to need a place to make your base. Thailand is an excellent choice based on my trips to the region. It is very inexpensive, yet the infrastructure is excellent. It simply makes a great place to launch any exploration of the region.

Travel Vaccinations for Kenya

When you are about to take that trip to Kenya, you should make sure that you visit your physician so that you take the necessary vaccinations and avoid falling sick while on your stay in the country.

Malaria is the most common type of disease that is transmitted by mosquitoes and the Kenya highlands are the most prone to this type of illness so you should make sure that you are covered. Mefloquine injection can be administered some few weeks before you take the flight to Kenya, and also ensure that your doctor gives you the right dose depending on your body.

The other type of vaccine that you can take is the Yellow Fever and with this you should be extra careful especially when dealing with children who are the age of six months or below and also adults that are above the age of 60 years. This type of disease is very common in the highland region of the country but visitors to Nairobi and Mombasa also have to take it.

Others are like Hepatitis A, Polio, Tetanus, Meningitis, Diphtheria, Hepatitis B, Tuberculosis and typhoid.

It is important also to note that some of these injections will last in your body for a long period of time and some can up to 25 years like the Hepatitis B. These should cover especially the long term travellers.

When you are travelling with children ensure that you watch what they eat and where they play. Snake bites are also very common and precaution should be taken.

Protect your health and make sure you take Travel Vaccinations Kenya before that trip.

Medical Travel - Venture Abroad to Find the Best Medical Care

Medical travel to India, Costa Rica, Thailand, and Mexico provides the perfect opportunity to combine travel for pleasure with receiving surgery and healthcare treatments at a half the cost one could find in the U.S. The American healthcare system has become a quagmire of uncertain rates, long waits for surgeries and other procedures, and an insurance headache for many insured people.

Instead of waiting indefinitely for a procedure of unknown cost in the U.S., Mexico medical travel enables one to enjoy the benefits and savings of healthcare abroad. Medical travel, also known as health travel, takes advantage of fixed pricing, which is often at a third to half the price of the same procedures and treatments offered in the U.S. Medical travel abroad also boasts state-of-the-art technology and highly trained doctors and healthcare staff, ensuring you will receive only the best healthcare.

Significant Savings

One distinct advantage of health travel is that patients know ahead of time exactly how much the procedure will cost. Another advantage to traveling abroad for surgery is that most countries abroad have arrangements in place for family members of patients to stay in nearby guest suites. There are recovery resorts available in many locations that allow you to recuperate from your procedure in comfort, as you would expect from any other type of vacation.

Because of the worldwide availability of lower cost care, travelers are turning to Costa Rica, Thailand, India and Mexico for surgery. Healthcare services in Costa Rica cost between 50 to 70 percent less than in the U.S. You can expect to spend one-tenth of the American cost for surgeries and treatments received in Thailand. Health travel is recognized by many countries as a national industry and is, therefore, protected with the highest caliber technology and the very best trained staff and doctors.

State Of The Art Care

A growing number of Americans are increasingly displeased with the lack of quality care at home. Procedures that can save lives or are more effective often get stuck in clinical trials for years in the U.S. As the American medical industry disallows many procedures, or has only recently begun to allow them, doctors abroad are actually more skilled than American doctors in many of these newer procedures.

Uninsured Americans are often unable to afford the cost of having life-saving procedures, but by going abroad; they can afford to have these surgeries. Most health travel organizers offer financing in installments for all types of procedures - which is not usually an option at all in the U.S. Other insured travelers turn to Mexico medical travel for cutting edge procedures such as weight loss surgery and cosmetic surgery that are considered elective procedures according to their U.S. insurance company.

The Benefits Of Medical Travel

Convenience and familiarity make Mexico health travel the best choice for Americans. Daily flights connect these neighbors on practically an hourly basis. Most doctors one would encounter in Mexico have been trained either in the U.S. or England and the majority of them speak English. Mexico's hospitals offer the very best in healthcare technology in their world-class facilities, all at a significantly lower cost than one could find in the U.S.

Costa Rica, Thailand, India, and Mexico all have booming health tourism. Health travel is big business and it is an advantage for these countries to offer the very best healthcare at a fraction of the cost in America, thereby allowing travelers to spend less than they would in America and then receive a much needed and long over due vacation in places like Mexico at no extra charge.
